Jeanette Tan was an Adjunct faculty member with the Sonoma State Wine Business Institute. She has over 10 years in the Wine industry and is an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors. More importantly, she has experience being a small business owner and understands the challenges that small winery managers face.

  • The Zero Step is the simplest method and it is best for very small wineries with just a few SKUs. The One Step works well for wineries with several different packages and up to about a dozen SKUs. The Two Step is the most precise. If you make any SKUs specifically to sell through 3-tier and you have a bottling package for those 3-tier wines, you will need to use the Two Step.

  • The cellar software is actually doing part of the two step for you. So the method is a variation of the Two Step we call Two Step Grapevine.

  • You can still use these procedures so long as you have not closed out the file for the end of the year. In fact, the year-end close will go a lot faster of you do these and your CFO or Cost Accountant will be super happy.
